Susanne Schieffer was born on November 9th in San Antonio, Texas, where she lived until graduation from high school. In 1974, she received a Bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Texas in Austin. While attending college, she worked in the Texas legislature. She was eventually named Executive Director of a small state agency.

In 1979, Susanne married John Thomas Schieffer and moved to Fort Worth, Texas. She was the director of Project Business for Junior Achievement of Tarrant County, a non-profit educational organization designed to foster better understanding of the free enterprise system in school-age children. At the birth of their son Paul, Susanne retired from the business world to devote herself full time to his upbringing. Over the years, she has been active in various educational and charitable endeavors.

Gardening, travel, golf, needlepoint and baseball are a few of the activities Mrs. Schieffer enjoys. She is also interested in antiques, artisans and new adventures.
