Ambassador Roos Meets MEXT Minister Nakagawa

U.S. Ambassador John Roos paid a courtesy call on Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Masaharu Nakagawa at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology today, during which he presented a set of 1,000 paper cranes folded by U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) employees and their families to express their support to the people of Japan following the March 11th disasters.

The Ambassador reaffirmed his view that educational and cultural exchanges, such as the Fulbright Program and the JET Programme, form the foundation of the U.S.-Japan relationship. The Ambassador also looks forward to working closely with Minister Nakagawa to strengthen and enhance U.S.-Japan cooperation on science and technology.
