What is "Go for Gold"

Go for Gold is exciting young people all across Japan about America's participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, while it celebrates our shared love of sports, encourages them to cheer for Team USA, and inspires them to study in the United States.

The U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the Tokyo Board of Education has partnered with nearly 400 schools - from kindergarten to senior high schools and special needs schools - all across Tokyo.

Go for Gold brings Olympians, Paralympians, and other athletes to local communities that will host Team USA during the Olympics and Paralympics.

Go for Gold sends American diplomats into the classrooms to talk to students, answer their questions, and help them practice their English. In some cases, these diplomats may be the first Americans students meet!

Go for Gold empowers teachers and, through special training programs, gives them the tools to better teach about America while improving their English teaching skills.

American athletes, in partnership with the U.S. Mission to Japan, are part of a defining moment in Japan's history.
