Ambassador Howard H. Baker, Jr. Undergoes Heart Surgery

U.S. Ambassador to Japan Howard H. Baker, Jr. underwent heart surgery on Monday, August 30, 2004 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Ambassador is currently recovering and his condition is good. The surgery was recommended by the Ambassador's physician following a routine physical examination during the Ambassador's scheduled leave in his home state of Tennessee.
