U.S. Thanks Japan at Conclusion of 2005 Aichi World Expo

September 22, 2005

The United States Embassy in Japan and U.S. Commissioner General, Ambassador Lisa Guillermin Gable would like to heartily congratulate the people and government of Japan for the outstanding success of the 2005 Aichi World Expo. We applaud the leadership and vision of the organizers in selecting the Expo's universal and timely theme of "Nature's Wisdom." Due to the tireless and innovative efforts of its coordinators, including Ambassador Taizo Watanabe and Expo Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda, the Aichi World Expo exceeded expectations both in terms of attendance and in the quality of its visitors' experience.

In advance of the September 25 closing of the Aichi Expo, Commissioner General Gable said, "I am grateful for the commitment and support of the Japanese government to the Expo and have been particularly moved by the hospitality of the generous people of the Chubu region." We are proud of the contribution that the U.S. Pavilion made to the success of this international effort, and we look forward to continuing to build on the deepening friendship and goodwill between the United States and Japan.
