Regarding the Resumption of Beef Trade

We at Embassy Tokyo were very pleased to learn that Japan will soon be importing American beef again. This has been a long process and I believe that Japanese consumers can be sure that every step has been taken to ensure that their health and safety would be protected. This issue has been a high priority for us and we are glad to get it finally resolved.
Japanese consumers can be assured that America is committed to the highest world scientific standards of safety and health in meat products. We look forward to winning back the Japanese customers that have for so many years enjoyed American beef. With this step today, we begin that process.
