Ambassador Schieffer Meets Ashinaga Summer Camp Kids

Aug. 7, 2007

Ambassador J. Thomas Schieffer meets at the Embassy on Aug. 7 with Hillary Strauch, who lost a parent in 9/11, along with other young participants in the Ashinaga Foundation's International Summer Camp for Orphans.
Ambassador J. Thomas Schieffer met again this year with participants of the Ashinaga Foundation's 2007 International Summer Camp. Group members included American children who lost a parent in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks or in the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster.

The Ashinaga Foundation was established in 2000 to host an annual camp for young victims of war, terrorism and natural disasters. To date, over 244 children from 17 countries have participated in this program to share their experiences. Ambassador Schieffer also met with participants last year.
