Discussion of Sanctions on Iran and North Korea

Aug. 5 - State Department Special Advisor for Nonproliferation and Arms Control Robert Einhorn and Treasury Department Deputy Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes Daniel Glaser visited Tokyo Aug. 3-4 for meetings with the Japanese government to discuss adopting and implementing new country-specific measures that target entities engaged in illicit activities with North Korea. The delegation also discussed Iran's nuclear ambitions and the need to strengthen international pressures against Iran, following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1929 and the rigorous additional measures adopted by the United States, Australia, Canada, and the European Union.
