Ramadan Messages from President Obama and Secretary Clinton

Aug. 13 - In a White House statement on Aug. 11, President Barack Obama said, "On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I want to extend our best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world," noting that "Ramadan is a time when Muslims around the world reflect upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, and the responsibility that human beings have to one another, and to God." The same day, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also extended Ramadan greetings, saying, "American Muslims make valuable contributions to our country every day and millions will honor this month with acts of service and giving back to their communities."
