Assistant Secretary of Defense Presents Award to Embassy Staff Member
Sept. 30 - On behalf of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Assistant Secretary of Defense Wallace "Chip" Gregson presented Ayako Kimura with the OSD Medal for Exceptional Public Service in a Sept. 28 ceremony at the Embassy. Ms. Kimura, a Japanese national who serves as a political specialist in the Embassy's political-military affairs unit, was commended for her efforts contributing to the strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance. Ambassador Roos also gave remarks; Political Minister Counselor Rob Luke offered a celebratory toast; and Colonel Jeff Wiltse, Director of Plans and Policy, U.S. Forces Japan, emceed the ceremony.
