Assistant Secretary of State Campbell Visits Japan

Oct. 7 - Kurt M. Campbell, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, visited Tokyo Oct. 6 for consultations with senior Japanese officials. At a media roundtable, Assistant Secretary Campbell told the press: "We today talked about the full range of issues: recent developments in Northeast Asia, the Korean Peninsula, issues associated with areas of common pursuit such as Afghanistan and piracy. We also talked about our respective efforts to deepen relationships with a variety of countries including India, Vietnam, Australia, and a number of bilateral initiatives the United States and Japan will be considering and announcing at the time of the President's visit."
