Ambassador Roos's Call to Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano - U.S. Embassy Statement

In a telephone call this afternoon to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano, Ambassador Roos conveyed his deep regrets that recent news reports about controversial statements attributed to a USG official have caused offense in Okinawa. Ambassador Roos noted that these alleged statements in no way reflect USG policy or the utmost respect the U.S. has for the Okinawan people.
