New U.S. Coast Guard Recommendation for Transiting Waters Near Fukushima

On June 6, the U.S. Coast Guard announced that vessels should avoid transiting waters within 20 km of the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant. This new announcement represents a reduction in the recommended avoidance zone around the nuclear plant, as previous announcements advised that vessels should avoid transiting within 80 km of the plant.
