"Japan is Safe and Open for Business"

June 24 - On June 23 at Tokyo Midtown, Ambassador Roos participated in a press conference with Lady Gaga to highlight the artist's relief efforts in Japan. Sponsored by MTV's "Video Music Aid Japan," the press conference also featured the commissioner of Japan’s tourism agency.

In his remarks, the Ambassador noted, "I have a simple message this morning: to thank Lady Gaga and MTV for all you are doing for Japan this week."

He added that the theme of Lady Gaga's visit - that Japan is safe and open for business - was a "powerful and wonderful message."

Lady Gaga will perform at an MTV benefit concert for tsunami victims on June 25 in Chiba.
