Ambassador Roos Encourages Japan's Entrepreneurs

Oct. 6 - Ambassador John V. Roos affirmed the importance of entrepreneurship to future prosperity before a group of about 300 young Japanese business leaders attending the event "Open Innovation Network Connect" in the Roppongi district of Tokyo.

Against a news backdrop that Apple Computer founder Steve Jobs had just passed away, the Ambassador explained how the Jobs's life illustrates the essence of entrepreneurship: "Dreaming big, taking risks, and not being afraid to fail."

Ambassador Roos also praised the event organizers' efforts to strengthen linkages among startup companies, university students and established firms. "What you are doing here today is so critically important to build the entrepreneurial culture that allowed Steve Jobs to change the world," he said.
