U.S. Ambassador John V. Roos paid a courtesy call on Defense Minister Naoki Tanaka at the Ministry of Defense today. The Ambassador reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, and stated that he looked forward to working closely with Minister Tanaka on a wide range of issues related to the defense of Japan and the security of the Asia-Pacific region. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that the excellent relationship between the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and the U.S. military, forged over the last half-century and demonstrated so remarkably during Operation Tomodachi, will continue to be further strengthened in the future.
