U.S. Embassy Announces New Visa Application Procedures

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Japan are implementing a new set of procedures for nonimmigrant visa applications that will reduce the cost to visa applicants in Japan. As of Friday, March 23, 2012, services including calling for information and envelopes for visa’ed passports will be provided at no additional cost to visa applicants.

With only one payment, the following services will be provided to all applicants:

  • Convenient payment of visa application fee by credit card, debit card, or via Electronic Fund Transfer, as well as at any Pay-easy ATM
  • Scheduling of visa appointments through the call center or online appointment website
  • Free information service for applicants with specific visa inquiries
  • Delivery of passports for approved visa applications
