April 16, 2012

I am deeply saddened by the death of Tadashi Yamamoto. On behalf of the United States, I wish to express profound condolences to his family and worldwide circle of friends.

Advisor to Prime Ministers, Presidents, and Ambassadors, founder of the Japan Center for International Exchange, and visionary humanitarian, Tadashi for decades helped deepen U.S.-Japan friendship, and brought tens of thousands of people of all nationalities together to work toward a more harmonious world. He was a pioneer in the cause of mutual understanding and global peace.

Tadashi's legacy lives on in the many thousands of people in Japan, the United States, and around the world whose lives he enriched.
