Ambassador Kennedy Condemns Terrorist Attack in Orlando

June 13, 2016

In the wake of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Ambassador Caroline Kennedy issued the following statement:

All Americans join with President Obama in grieving the murders of dozens of innocent people in Orlando, Florida.

We appreciate the support of Prime Minister Abe and the people of Japan for expressing solidarity with us during this difficult time.

This hateful massacre of LGBT Americans is an attack on us all. It reminds us that we must recommit ourselves to fight intolerance and cruelty, and that all people should be free to express their love without fear of violence or discrimination.

Terrorist attacks will never change who we are or the fundamental values that make us Americans.
